Brunello di Montalcino was one of the first wines ever to receive the designation DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata). It was also the first Italian wine to receive the designation DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita). This wine, which is exclusively produced from the “Sangiovese Grosso” grapes, is exceptional in every respect. On one hand are the favourable climate conditions and the richness of the loamy and limy soil that gives the grapes their unique flavour. The second and not less important factor is the expertise in the production in this region, which is also characterized by the long maturing of at least two years in large oak wood barrels, and recently also in French Barriques. The techniques of wine production are here still passed on from generation to generation. In the past years, the Brunello di Montalcino has become synonymous for exclusive quality and has in a way become the Italian ambassador in the world of wines. One characteristic of the Brunello is the long obligatory ageing during four years before it can be sold. Production, refinement and bottling must take place in the municipality of Montalcino. According to the best of traditions our Brunello matures in large oak barrels.
Characteristics of our Brunello: Intense ruby-red with a tendency to garnet-red, after aging with orange reflexes and some “tuilé”; intense fresh aromas of cherries and raspberry, young with expressive tannin, with increasing age smoothening, elegant, classy and rich, full-bodied and a long finish.
